After 80 years of operations, the “Mighty Marysville” closed in 2011 and quickly became a local hazard/eyesore. DTE Energy sought a buyer that would not only remove the liability from its balance sheet, but also reposition the site for its highest and best use in the community. In 2014, a company affiliated with CDC purchased the power plant and agreed to indemnify DTE Energy from all future environmental concerns. Environmental remediation and site wide demolition are now complete and the former power plant site has been sold to an industrial user.
An adjacent 22-acre parcel tank farm which was also part of the original power plant is available for sale by Commercial Development. The property has 3 Above Ground Storage Tanks on site with a combined storage capacity of over 400,000 barrels.
